5 Best Things to Do in Weaverville, NC

Below is a list of the five best things to do in Weaverville. Whether you’re staying in the area, planning a day trip from Asheville, or visiting on a side trip from the Blue Ridge Parkway, or the Great Smoky Mountains.

About this Weaverville Itinerary

This Weaverville itinerary and adventure map were developed for a Try Something New Tuesday adventure. My main goal was to explore a charming North Carolina mountain town on a Tuesday. I looked for places where I could easily work remotely, sample the local culture, and enjoy a delicious bite to eat.

Weaverville Afternoon Trip Itinerary

Here is my recommended Weaverville day trip itinerary to explore this Western North Carolina mountain town.

1. Enjoy Lunch

Enjoy a bite to eat at Twisted Laurel’s Weaverville location, which offers classic dishes and a full bar. When I arrived around 1 p.m. on a Tuesday, the restaurant was still surprisingly full. I opted for a seat at the bar, where I explored the menu and the local paper.

2. Explore Main Street

Weaverville’s walkable Main Street includes gift shops and art boutiques. I spent a considerable amount of time at Artisans on Main, which features a fantastic collection of local arts and creators. There are a variety of local things from candles to terrariums and handcrafted lampshades.

3. Take a Coffee Break

After exploring Main Street, you’ll probably be ready for a nice afternoon pick-me-up. Visit Yellow Mug Coffee Lounge to enjoy crafted coffee and baked goods. Their pumpkin spice dirty chai is especially delicious! There are multiple seating options, including a cute little window bar seating section. If you’re planning to work remotely, their WiFi is fast and the noise level is at a minimum in the afternoon.

4. Stop for Honey Samples and Selfies

Honey & the Hive is housed in a captivating building with a selfie-friendly mural celebrating honeycombs and native bees. Inside, the store offers free local honey samples, beekeeping equipment, and plenty of honey and products to purchase.

5. Soak in the Outdoor Spaces

Before hopping back in the car, stretch your legs and enjoy the views at Lake Louise Park. Take the 0.6-mile walking loop on gravel and paved surfaces. I highly recommend veering a little off the loop trail to explore the bonus waterfall made by Reems Creek. This detour is just south of the park located on a separate path.

3 Things I Love About Weaverville

During my afternoon in Weaverville for Try Something New Tuesday, there were three things I really enjoyed including walkability, activity options, and a bonus waterfall to explore.

1. Weaverville’s Walkability

Although I drove to two of the stops on my itinerary, I definitely could have walked to them, as each destination was within a mile of the other. The Town of Weaverville has a convenient sidewalk system making it easy for visitors to explore Main Street and Lake Louise Park. Download this Weaverville Walking Map to map out your adventures. More corporate places, like Publix, were located a short drive away from Main Street.

2. Wide Variety of Options

Being a smaller mountain town with a population of 4,600, I was amazed by the number of restaurant options and shops. During my afternoon exploration, I jotted down several places  – Well-Bred Bakery, Glass Onion, Weaverville Yoga, that I plan to come back and visit!

3. A Bonus Waterfall

Viewing a waterfall usually requires miles of hiking. Imagine my surprise to find an adorable waterfall conveniently located across from the town park. Stumbling on this serene spot helped the worries from my day flow downstream. Easily access Weaverville’s waterfall from the 0.6-mile Lake Louise walking trail.
