Where to Stay in Black Mountain [2023 Lodging Guide]

Twenty minutes east of Asheville, North Carolina, the adorable town of Black Mountain offers 360 views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, boasts more than 40 restaurants and bars, provides easy access to hiking and mountain bike trails, and has a charming and walkable downtown.

Known as The Little Town that Rocks, Black Mountain, North Carolina is the perfect spot to stay, unplug, and enjoy the views and small-town life. Only 10  miles east of a Blue Ridge Parkway access point, it also makes a great home base for leaf-peeping season in the Asheville area.

Looking to stay in Black Mountain? Here is your ultimate lodging guide highlighting, hotel, motel, bed & breakfast, Airbnb, and camping options.

Hotels in Black Mountain (Ranging from $67-$150 per Night)

Looking for the traditional hotel experience? Black Mountain is home to three conveniently located chain hotels and one historic hotel.

Hampton Inn Black Mountain

When it comes to views, Hampton Inn Black Mountain is the envy of all other Hampton Inns. Backing up against the bowl of a Blue Ridge Mountain, everywhere you look you see mountains. It has ample parking and is a 4-minute walk to downtown restaurants and shopping.

Quality Inn

Located south of I-40, Quality Inn is close to Black Mountain’s fast food options (Wendy’s, Taco Bell, and McDonald’s) and across the street from Ingles grocery store. Getting downtown Black Mountain is a 2-minute drive or a 10-minute walk. If you’re just driving through, this hotel option will give you the quickest access to go east or west on the interstate.

Super 8 by Wyndham Black Mountain

Located in Black Mountain’s more industrial-feeling neighborhood, Super 8 by Wyndham Black Mountain offers a creekside experience, backing up to Flat Creek. It’s also right next door to Ole’s Guacamoles, one of the best patios in Black Mountain. If you plan to travel east on I-40, this location has convenient access to the onramp.

The Monte Vista Hotel

Black Mountain’s upscale hotel option, The Monte Vista Hotel offers a more historic and luxurious experience. Boasting 45 unique rooms, guests can choose from the Philips King Room, rooms located in the original 1837 wing, or their lodge. This property is also the only hotel in Black Mountain that offers a full-service restaurant.

Motels in Black Mountain

If you’re looking for one of the cheapest places to stay in Black Mountain with little to no frills, there are two motel options. Both are locally owned and operated and conveniently located right next to each other.

Acorn Motel

A budget-friendly option, the Acorn Motel offers a place to sleep and WiFi in the lobby. Recent Google reviews for this motel aren’t stellar, so I would book based on your lodging tolerance.

Apple Blossom Motel

With 21 rooms, Apple Blossom Motel offers a simple stay and complimentary morning coffee. Their vintage 1950 rooms include free WiFi and flat-screen TVs.

Bed & Breakfasts in Black Mountain (Ranging from $175-$275 per night)

Do you enjoy the bed & breakfast experience on vacation? Black Mountain is home to four B&B options. Ranging from upscale to what looks like it could be your grandma’s house.

Arbor House Black Mountain

This 20th-century B&B is conveniently located next to Lake Tomahawk and surrounded by a lovely garden. Arbor House Black Mountain offers five suites and a two-course breakfast by Chef Jim.

Black Mountain Inn

Located one mile west of town, this B&B is nestled in a tree preserve from the 1700s. The Black Mountain Inn offers five rooms, including a suite. Based on recent Google reviews, I would determine if this spot is right for your upcoming vacation.

Inn on Mill Creek

Located between Black Mountain and Old Fort, this B&B is technically located in Old Fort. The Inn on Mill Creek offers five guest rooms with nature influences. Breakfast is made from scratch every morning and served in the solarium in the summer.

Red Rocker Inn

This Victorian B&B is located near the heart of downtown Black Mountain, just a 5-minute walk to the main streets. The Red Rocker Inn offers 17 rooms and includes a complimentary made-to-order breakfast. Dinner service is also available Thursday through Monday if you decide you never want to leave their large, charming front yard.

Airbnbs or Home Rental (Ranging from $119-$685 per night)

Ideal for people who want a private home rental experience when they’re on vacation, there are several Black Mountain Airbnb options. Depending on if you want to walk into town or are looking for a secluded mountain experience, here are four of my personal favorite Airbnbs in Black Mountain.

Black Mountain A-Frames

These four adorable a-frame rentals in Black Mountain will make you want to pinch yourself. Available to rent on Airbnb, these A-frames are located blocks from downtown Black Mountain.

Black Mountain Lake House

This gorgeously decorated 5-bedroom home is located directly off historic Lake Tomahawk. You’ll have easy backyard access to walk down to the lake and enjoy sunsets and sunrises over Craggy Pinnacle on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Blueberry Bungalow

Cozy meets convenient with this two-bedroom cottage located between Lake Tomahawk and downtown Black Mountain. Split your time between the welcoming front porch with rockers or the backyard screened-in porch.

Luxe Cottage with Mountain Views

Located in Black Mountain’s newest community, Tudor Croft, this luxury 4-bedroom cottage has mountain views and a hot tub. With a modern rustic feel, you’ll enjoy views on every level of this three-story home.

Camping Options Near Black Mountain (Ranging from $25-$145 per night)

Although there are no campgrounds located in the town of Black Mountain, there are three options perfect for remote workers, nomads, Cruise Americas, and visitors who want to sleep under the stars.

Asheville East KOA Holiday

Located between Asheville and Black Mountain in Swannanoa, Asheville East KOA Holiday offers a riverfront experience. Lodging options at this upscale campground include RV sites, cabins, and tent camping. Enjoy WiFi, fishing access, a summertime pool, and CableTV as part of their included amenities.

Mama Gertie’s Hideaway Campground

Also located in Swannanoa, Mama Gertie’s Hideaway Campground is a 10-minute drive to Black Mountain. Tucked away into the mountain, this campground is ideal for RV, pop-up, or glampers – tent camping is not an option. During spring through fall, they also offer premium mountain-top RV sites for a full mountain view.

Montreat Campground

Located 10 minutes north of Black Mountain, the little town of Montreat is tucked away in the woods. The privately owned Montreat Campground is open from late April through late October. They offer tent or small pop-up campsites or hiking shelters for thru-hikers.
